So I bought a frankly...not so cute dress with a kind of cute pattern. My goal was to make it into an adorable funky dress and I was in the process today, until my needle broke, and my sewing machine stopped working!! So stay tuned for the final results.

Recycled Magazine Baskets

I made these cute baskets/cups out of folded magazines. With the first basket I made the spiral looking base. These are super easy and cute containers for stuff :)

For the Base
1.) Find an old magazine that is colorful and bright (mine weren't very colorful)
2.) Cut the pages into 1 or 1 1/2 inch strips the long way
3.) Paint on a watered down glue onto the strip and fold in thirds
4.) Paint the glue onto the now narrower strip and roll into a spiral
5.) Keep painting and rolling more strips on until your base is the right size

For the Body
1.) Keep cutting and folding the strips like you did for the base
2.) Find a shape of cylinder or bowl you would like your "basket" to look like
3.) Wrap parchment paper or freezer paper and tape it around the bowl (to protect it)
4.) Take your strips and begin wrapping them around the bowl in a spiral upwards direction
5.) Make a lid like your base, or weave strips of paper like I did

Another Cork Board

This is actually the first cork board I made for my best friend. I liked it so much that I made another.
1.) I painted the frame white
2.) I stapled wallpaper onto the cork board
3.) I stapled the fabric for pockets and added the buttons
4.) I painted the clothes pins and glued them onto the wallpaper
5.)I painted the bottle caps and super glued push pins onto them

I think it turned out rather cutely :)

Cork Board

I had an old cork board that I never used, so I thought if I made it pretty and creative, I might use it!
1.) I painted the cork board blue
2.) I painted the bottle caps
3.) I drilled holes in the bottle caps then nailed them to the frame
4.) I stapled the fabric for pockets
5.) I put rub on letters for my name
6.) I put green thick paper in a picture frame for a dry erase board
